Bandwidth Sharing

Torrex is free — no ads, no subscription, no paywall. This page explains, in plain English, the trade that makes that possible: what bandwidth sharing is, exactly what happens on your machine, what it costs you, and how to turn it off. If anything here is unclear, email us at contact@torrex.tv.

The short version

While Torrex is open, a portion of your unused internet bandwidth is shared with a partner network. Businesses pay that network to route their traffic through real home internet connections, the network pays Torrex a small commission, and that commission funds development. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Sharing, and Torrex stays fully free either way.

Who the partner is

Torrex currently works with one partner network: Pawns.app, operated by IPRoyal. Their software runs inside Torrex as an isolated component. How they handle the traffic they route is governed by their privacy policy. If we ever add or change partners, this page and the in-app disclosure will be updated first.

What actually happens

When sharing is active, the partner network's clients — businesses doing things like price comparison, ad verification, brand protection, and market research — send some of their web traffic through your internet connection. To the websites they visit, that traffic appears to come from your IP address, the same way your own browsing does.

The traffic is encrypted and handled entirely by the partner's software. Torrex does not see it, and neither do you. The partner network is responsible for vetting its clients and policing what its network is used for — that is a real limitation worth understanding, and it's covered honestly below.

What it costs you

• Some bandwidth. Sharing uses a portion of your connection's spare capacity. It is designed to stay out of the way of your streaming and browsing.
• Only while Torrex is open. Nothing runs after you quit the app. There is no background service and nothing launches at system startup.
• Pauses under load. Sharing stops automatically when your CPU is under heavy load and resumes when things calm down.

What is never collected

Nothing about what you watch, search for, or do in Torrex is collected, transmitted, or shared — by us or by the partner network. The only identifier involved is a random device ID generated on first launch. It is not derived from your hardware or any personal data, and it exists solely so aggregate bandwidth contribution can be accounted for. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

What you should know

• Because shared traffic exits from your IP address, the websites it reaches see your IP — just as they would if you visited them yourself. The partner network states that it verifies its clients and prohibits abuse, but Torrex cannot independently inspect that traffic.
• Some internet providers' terms of service restrict reselling or sharing your connection. If you want to be certain, check your ISP's terms — or simply leave sharing off.

We think the trade is fair and we make it openly — but it is your connection, and the switch is yours.

How to turn it off

Open Torrex and go to Settings → Sharing, then flip the toggle. Sharing stops immediately — not at the next restart — and stays off until you decide otherwise. The same page shows a live status indicator whenever sharing is running.
